Doesn't YOUR Dog Deserve the Best?

Meet Our Staff
Owner Phil Marr with one of his students.

Phil Marr

Phil Marr has been obedience training dogs since 1969.  Over the years, Phil's students have earned more than 250 Obedience titles - and 20 Tracking titles.

He has trained and handled dogs who have earned a total of 27 AKC obedience titles, six American Kennel Club (AKC) Breed Championships, and 14 International (FCI) Championships.  Phil was an AKC judge for over 27 years, he recently retired from judging.

Years ago, Phil began with Dobermans, but has since owned numerous other breeds, including the first English Cocker Spaniel in the history of the breed to win an OTCH (Obediece Trial Championship) and the top winning English Cocker Spaniel for several years running.

Phil received a BA in Psychology/Behavior Modification from the University of Houston, where he did studies in Animal Behavior.

Deirdre Samples-Marr and some of her favorite dogs.
Deirdre Samples-Marr

Deirdre is a fixture at the School. She started out 12 years ago as a student, and after training several years with Phil (and marrying him!), decided to leave her job at the SPCA of Texas, to work at PCOS.

Deirdre has years of pratical experience with dogs and horses.  As a youngster, Deirdre trained her first dog, a Shetland Sheepdog, and entered her in junior competitions.

Deirdre is very active in dog rescue/re-homing, and can help you find the next dog of your dreams through Purebred Rescue or the local SPCA.

Deirdre currently has two dogs, both Cardigan Welsh Corgis, Rudy and Cappy.  Cappy and Deirdre recently earned their AKC CD, as well as two Herding titles.

Nicole and her one of the dogs enrolled in our Board & Train program
Nicole Canaris

We were lucky to find Nicole! She came to us from another training facility, seeking the opportunity to work with, and learn from, Phil Marr.

Nicole is a wonderful trainer, and she trains all of our Latchkey and Board & Train dogs.

Nicole is extremely quiet, and soft-spoken, which has a calming effect on the more rambunctious dogs, while allowing the shy dogs to feel comfortable.

Nicole loves horses, her cats exercising and working out. She spends every spare minute outside of work either riding her horse "Jewels" or at the gym working out. She is also an expert in the Martial art of Ninjutsu.
